Our Transition to school Program allows a positive change from Preschool to Kindergarten.
Our service has a comprehensive and successful transition to school program to help make the transition from home to ‘Big School’ a positive and happy experience for both children and their families. Our 'School Room' Program consists of a 4 station routine involving a range of hands-on activities.
Liaising with the schools which children will be attending.
A formal ‘School Room’ in Term 3 and 4, which provides children going to school with a range of activities and experiences to assist in developing their readiness to participate and learn in a classroom setting. School readiness skills include: turn taking, listening skills, concentration, building resilience, following sequences, independence, collaboration, cooperation, public speaking, following 2-3 step instructions, colour, shape, number and letter recognition and fine motor skills such as writing, drawing and cutting and pasting.
There is transition to school information which is sent home. This includes checklists to see if your child is ready, hints to assist them in their preparation and transition, what to expect in kindergarten, etc.
We implement a daily formal gross motor program to develop children’s fundamental movement skills.
Koala, Dolphin and Robot story groups with kindergarten focused activities, expectations and letter of the week sheets. We follow the Jolly Phonics order for letter and sound recognition.
